Monica's early start as an architect taught her a distinctly disciplined approach to her brand of design; one that continues to influence every project from permanent and temporary structures to office to interiors to lighting, seating and outdoor furniture.
Perhaps most importantly, Monica's own particular design DNA is deeply rooted in family. In the beginning was her father's architectural influence, which to this day can be seen throughout their hometown of Trento, Italy.
What has brought Monica's vision to life, and what continues to make her designs possible, is husband Luca. Their first and now iconic Progetto1 table remains a testament to the magic and logic of their partnership, a partnership that has inspired the creativity and innovation of Monica Armani design.
Truly Innovative
Monica Armani's use of thick vertical braiding woven into a rounded bucket seat became an instant signature look for the Tosca outdoor furniture collection. Armani describes the Tosca collection as unambiguous with soul, which in Armani's case is found in the proportions and braiding, both of which are soft and feminine.
Armani has succeeded in what she set out to do which was to combine emotion, comfort, and personality in one stunning collection. The material used for the braiding is genuinely innovative; foam mousse is encased in a seamless sheath of knitted textilene and polyolefine, making the material weather-resistant and surprisingly soft to the touch.
